Simply Stylist Pampering Sessions at Dana Hotel and Spa

Simply Stylist, a convention for the beauty and fashion industry took place in River North on Saturday. Just as I entered the second floor bathroom of the Dana Hotel and Spa to apply Eylure London lashes, I spoke with the writer of Samosa Pop, a lovely Indian woman. For Simply Stylist, I wore a bohemian style dress and Halogen flats, with Calvin Tran chandelier earrings.

Coming up to the 5th floor conference rooms, we sipped tropical drinks and munched on these amazing Pretzel Crisps, simply divine with the dips. I spoke with every booth at the pampering session and brand experience. Cocktail Perfume provided perfume ampules, and the line also recently participated in an installation boutique at the 900 N. Michigan Shops.

LVX Nail Polish offered a nail bar with their summer collection, and I actually passed them up to have a blowout from Blowtique and talk to rest of the booths. Blowtique, located just across from the Dana Hotel, curled and teased and fluffed hair to perfection with Oribe and Kerastese styling sprays. From Skintimate, I took home a few shaving creams to test out soon.

Keaton Row, an online styling service enables people to become virtual stylists or supplement their styling services with an online component. This company held a stylist contest during the event, for a evening look and a professional chic look. For the second look, I came up with a sophisticated style for a modern women and won a  $100 Nordstrom gift card!

Katherine Cosmetics showed up offering pouches with lip gloss to guests, and the limited selection of blushes, lip glosses, and mascaras are specifically for active women. The company provided a sample of their SPF infused lip gloss to all of their visitors.

These cosmetics come in a neutral palette, similar to natural skin tones with rose colors, to encourage women to apply makeup during their workouts. Does this make sense? It seems like most women prefer to have less makeup or none when breaking a sweat. It’s even better for your skin and pores.
