On a quiet Saturday morning in early November, the beauty department at Bloomingdale’s North Michigan Shops hosted a special event for beauty experts and enthusiasts. The presentation of beauty trends took place on the third floor next to the shoe department and the beauty stations performed makeovers on the first floor.
Sonic oscillations, the first presentation from a Clarisonic expert talked about how the sonic brush compares to cleansing with only your hands. On to an SK-II talk about “secret key to beauty” and it’s discovery at a sake distillery. I have encountered this line multiple times in the Manhattan 59th and Lexington location, where the gentlemen goes on about the “beautiful women” entering the store. Merci beaucoup!
Guests found programs with “hello gorgeous” on the front and descriptions of beauty counter promotions on the interior. I only popped over to a few counters, including Jo Malone for a complimentary hand massage with Blue Agava and Cacao body cream, Creme de La Mer for an intensive mask sample, complimentary polish from Tom Ford and the makeup by Yves Saint Laurent. I had the Toasted Sugar polish applied and obsessed over the Oud Wood scent, deodarant launching soon!
Goodies included a black and white zebra cosmetics case with bright pink trim filled with: Sisley essential anti-aging day cream, Giorgio Armani eye rejuvenating serum, Clinique clarifying lotion, Bobbi Brown hydrating eye cream, Clarins eye concentrate, SK-II power rich cream, Trisha McEnvoy eyeshadow base, Yves Saint Laurent forever serum, Estée Lauder advanced night repair, and a slur of perfume like Black Orchid, Miss Dior, Valentina, Shalimar, also Nars tinted moisturizer in Alaska!
Not to mention other goodies from the beauty counters, like the new Intensive Moisture Mask from La Mer, a lightweight and leave-in mask that you apply at night and press into your skin. Ren Skincare provided a delicious new product preview, the flash rinse 1-minute facial, a delicate pale green potion, that goes on smoothly then feels like an exfoliating scrub. It supposedly gives you the results of an actual facial; with a potent shot of Vitamin C hydration and locks into a silica/glyceride matrix.
Perfume from Jo Malone, wood sage and sea salt combined with peony and white blush. I preferred the scents I selected for the hand massage! No worries, with Tom Ford goodies I’m more than covered with Tobacco Oud, Noir de Noir, Cafe Rose, Jasmin Rouge, and Rive d’ambre. All of the finishing touches contributed to a lovely morning of beauty!
