Before the preview dinner for Current Restaurant, I took a mandatory elevator ride up to the Bliss Spa, a place a used to frequent and checked out some new products like the Prty Peasun body lotion and Lucky Legs leg lotion. It smells super fresh and minty like most leg and foot creams.
I seem to find beauty at every turn, despite the theme of the evening, where it be lifestyle, fashion, or even food related like this dinner! I came as seating started and the server kindly poured out water glasses, while the hostess greeted us and welcomed the collective into the restaurant for a preview of what’s current in food and drink this summer.
Sipping my favorite, sparkling rosé wine, I pondered over the menu with my mouth watering. I’m loving these fresh and coastal dishes, not too rich but still taste light. I woke up the next morning feeling wonderful, even with downing four glasses of rose.
Thank you Current, for covering that $52.00 bar tab for my expensive taste and rosé obsession. I seemed to set a trend, as the ladies seated at our table started to order up rosé. Same with the lovely flat-whites coming out unexpectedly.
I had a chance to meet some inspiring women, and talk over bubbles. The servers brought out baby cucumber salad first, topped with prosciutto, ricotta, mint, and white balsamic. I’m surprised to see honey butter and bread come to our table, the honey butter tasted wonderful, super sweet and delicate as you can imagine. I have made this at home before with butter and honey of course!
Pan roasted sea scallops came out second, with ratatouille, black olive and oven dried tomato tapenade. Those scallops were pleasant, but could be better without those toppings. I preferred the toppings with the rushing waters trout, with local cauliflower, potatoes and extra virgin olive oil.
Served with sides of charred local corn and thyme-roasted baby carrots, these suited the trout. Coming out for a sweet treat, a black dog sorbet with poured in Prosecco, and a concoction of waffles, malted vanilla gelato, and caramelized bananas.
